WINTHROP – Beulah W. Hilliard, 88, a resident of Neck Road in Litchfield, died Monday, Jan. 19, at Winthrop Manor, where she had been a patient since October 2008.

She was born Nov. 29, 1920, in Brooksville, the daughter of Lemuel and Alice (Billings) Fowler and the next to youngest of 12 children. She attended school in Brooksville.

On March 25, 1942, in Turner, she married Francis Hilliard Sr. of Wales. He passed away Nov. 4, 1968. She worked as a shoe shop worker at Hallowell Shoe. She was a member of the West Gardiner Senior Citizens.

She enjoyed camping up near Jackman; reading, knitting, quilting, but her greatest enjoyment was playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Chadburn of Greene; four sons, Francis Hilliard Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Leeds, Ronald Hilliard of Litchfield, Richard Hilliard and his wife, Pam, of Litchfield and James Hilliard of Winthrop; 12 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
