AUBURN – Jack Hackett, 59, of Buckfield, died Jan. 13, as the result of a logging accident.

He was born Jan. 23, 1949, in Lewiston, the son of Clayton and Evelyn (Vachon) Hackett and had worked as a logger most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War, a member of the Buckfield American Legion and the Masonic Lodge of Buckfield. Jack had served one term on the Buckfield Board of Selectman and had a heart of gold.

He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Hackett of Auburn; longtime companion, Kate Buck, of Buckfield; two sons, Jacob “Jake” Hackett of Buckfield and Seth Holbrook of Turner; one daughter, Sara Hackett of Exeter, N.H.; three sisters, Joy Thibeault and her husband, Robert, of Rockland, Judith Tomasik and her husband, Randy, of East Corinth and Jean Bennett and her husband, Eugene, of Auburn; four grandchildren, Autumn Hackett, Jacob Hackett, Tucker Hackett and Hailey Holbrook; and will be missed by his many special friends and extended family.

He was predeceased by his father, Clayton Hackett; and grandchildren, Alexander John and Lexis Gabrielle.
