OTISFIELD – Kristin D. Amato, 42, of South St., Gorham, died on Jan. 7 at the summer home of her parents in Otisfield, after a long illness.
Born in Lewiston on March 28, 1966, she was the daughter of Bruce M. and Barbara J. (Donnell) James. Kristin was raised in Plaistow, N.H. and was a graduate of the Governor Dummer Academy in Byfield, Mass., class of 1984. Her college years were spent at Hartwick College in Oneonta, N.Y., where she graduated in 1988 with a bachelor degree in business. For the past 15 years, Kristin was employed at Barber Foods in Portland.
With a life-long interest in sports, Kristin played lacrosse in college and later managed and coached her daughter’s lacrosse team at Gorham Middle School. She always encouraged and supported her daughter’s sporting activities, whether it was the lacrosse team, field hockey team or the girls’ ice hockey team.
She enjoyed all types of sports as well as traveling. Her main interest, however, was spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her parents, Bruce M. and Barbara J. (Donnell) James of Lakewood Ranch, Fla.; husband, John A. Amato, Jr. of Gorham; her daughter, Brianna K. Amato of Gorham; one brother, Kevin L. James and his wife, Lynn O’Brien, of Twickenham, England; two sisters, Cathy J. Booth and her husband, Roland, of Plaistow, N.H. and Kelly J. Coleman and her husband, Robert, of Portsmouth, N.H.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
