AUBURN – Bernadette J. Tardif, 87, died Jan. 3, in Auburn, after a long illness.

She was born March 15, 1921, in Lewiston, the daughter of the late Gaston and Imelda (Bilodeau) Tardif.

She was employed as a bookkeeper for former radio station WCOU and Lewiston Crushed Stone Co. She had worked in Washington, D.C., for the Navy Department during World War II, and for the British Air Force squadron stationed at the Brunswick Air Base. She was an avid reader, and was an accomplished genealogist and enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by her sister, Rita R. Connors of Marlborough, Mass.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many dear friends.
