SCARBOROUGH – David F. Martino, 73, died at his home on Dec. 21, after a 12-year battle with congestive heart failure and Brocho Pulmonary Aspergillos.
He was born in Norway, on June 10, 1935, to Artiemese (Locke) and Carlo V. Martino.
He married his best friend and beloved wife, Joyce (Cook) on June 16, 1956.
He was drummer with Bobby’s Trailers with Freddy and Claire. They recorded records on the Reprise label owned by Frank Sinatra.
He was detective with the South Portland Police Department for 16 years. He studied criminal physiology at USM Portland and at FBI in Quantico, Va. He owned and operated a private ingestion firm. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and established many local chapters.
An avid NASCAR motor sports fan, he always enjoyed going to Oxford Plains Speedway.
Surviving him is his wife, Joyce of Scarborough; two sons, David A. “Tony” and his wife, Kelly, of Steep Falls and Jeffery and his wife, Janice, of Tucson, Ariz.; three grandsons, Alan Lovejoy and his wife, Kelly, Joel Martino and wife, Mandy, and Justin Martino; one granddaughter, April Martino; two great-grandchildren, Zachary Charles and Aubrey Ann Haskel; his brother, Robert Bell and his wife, Janice, and Terry Richards; along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Steven Richards.
