FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Muriel E. Gilliam, 83, of Lewiston, died in Fort Lauderdale after a short illness on Dec. 16.

She was born in Portland, the daughter of George and Sybil Holmes. She attended area schools in and around the South Portland area.

She had seven children starting with Robert, Thomas, Billy, Ronald, Marie, Kimmie and Jana, four of which are deceased.

She had many interests in life including painting, her family, and of course bingo! She was tireless in her pursuit of family and devotion to others, including giving of her time to teach others the art of painting. She has touched many, many lives and she will be missed and remembered by thousands.

Survivors include many grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
