PORTLAND – Randy C. Collins, 56, of New Vineyard, died Friday, Dec. 12, at Maine Medical Center in Portland following complications of Sarcoidosis.

Randy’s life was dedicated to the Lord, his family and his many friends. He enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, sailing and being outdoors with his family and friends. He loved spending time playing with his grandchildren. Traveling and cruising were another of the pastimes he enjoyed. In March, he and his wife celebrated their 30th anniversary with a two-week cruise around Hawaii. He enjoyed working with his hands. He built his first house with the help of his wife and even harvested the lumber used to build parts of the house. He taught himself carpentry, plumbing and wiring. Cars and racing were another of his hobbies. He sponsored a race car for several years and was restoring his mother’s Mustang. In his neighborhood he was considered the unofficial mayor of Gammon Pond. His children loved spending time with him, even if it was only to go snowplowing in the middle of the night. It always made his grandchildren happy when he was around. He was always available to lend a hand to whoever needed it. One never knew how long an errand would take because he was always running into someone he could talk with. He was generous with his time and resources.

He graduated from Deering High School in 1970, where he played the trumpet in the school marching band. He received a degree in forestry from the University of Maine at Orono in 1974, and was a member of Sigma Nu. He became a registered land surveyor and has owned Acme Engineering and Design Inc., since 1985. He was involved with Western Maine Christian Academy since its founding and also served as their treasurer. He also acted as cooperator at Franklin Savings Bank.

He was saved at New Hope Baptist Church, and has faithfully attended there for the last 21 years. He raised his children to serve and love the Lord. Praise the Lord they will see him again.
