LEWISTON – Robert Warren Larrabee, 83, of Auburn, passed away on Monday, Dec. 8, at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion.
He was born in Lewiston, Sept. 21, 1925, the son of the late Charles Henry Larrabee and Laura Vesta Whitman. He was educated in Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1944, after which he attended Bates College, where he played football and took part in their trip to the Glass Bowl.
He was married to Evelyn L. Millier in 1958. He was employed for 39 years at Bates Fabrics, when he retired in 1987 as purchasing director. After his retirement, he was employed for several years at Wrigley Sales Co.
Bob was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Auburn for 50 years, a member in good standing of Tranquil Lodge 29, AF & AM for 50 years, a member of the All Maine Camera Club, the Photographic Society of America, where he represented the state of Maine, Lewiston & Auburn Camera Club, Portland Camera Club, the New England Camera Club for which he served a two-year term as president from 1995 to 1997. He was also closely associated with the Auburn Suburban Little League, acting as a team manager for 18 years.
He enjoyed special times spent with his family, baseball, basketball, football, hiking and especially photography.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of 50 years of Auburn; a daughter, Marcia Pawlowski of Burlington, Vt.; two sons, Mark W. Larrabee and wife, Dana, of Wilmette, Ill., and John Larrabee of Sandpoint, Idaho; five grandchildren, Lance, Alexandra, Zachary, and Nicholas Larrabee and Matthew Pawlowski.
He was predeceased by his father; mother; a brother, Richard; and two sisters, Janet Smyc and Betty Knight.
