Lewiston – Arnold E. Alward, 83, of Lewiston and formerly of Buxton, died Friday, Dec. 5, at Montello Manor with his family by his side.
He was born in Hodgdon on Aug. 21, 1925, the son of Otto and Lena (Addington) Alward.
He grew up and attended schools in Hodgdon and later served his country in the Seabeas 28th Special Naval Battalion during World War II.
He worked for many years at Armour and Co,. and then for Jordan Meat Co., until his retirement in 1987.
He was a member of the Lodge Council Chapter Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of The Androscoggin and the Shriners of North America.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling, especially at his camp located at Little Kennebago.
He also enjoyed outdoor work and gardening at his home in Buxton until his illness.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Beaulieu and husband, Raymond, of Lisbon; his son Robert Alward and wife, Nancy, of Sabattus; his sisters Constance Quint of Carmichael, Calif., and Betty Hanley and husband, Phillip, of Church Road, Va.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved Yorkie, Suzie-Q.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Montello Manor, Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice and a special thank you to Ina Small, hospice aide.
