LIVERMORE FALLS – Don Elwood Wood, 59, of Livermore Falls, died in the early evening Sunday, Nov. 11, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on March 7, 1949, in Farmington, the son of Chester Elwood and Beatrice Jane (Peavey) Wood. Don graduated from Wilton Academy in 1966, and went on to serve in the U.S. Army from September 1966 to September 1972.
He worked for various construction companies throughout the country and enjoyed Harley-Davidson motorcycles, racing, truck pulling and his annual trips to Sturgis.
He is survived by his wife, Anita “Birdie” (Houle) Wood, whom he married on Oct. 31, 1986, at the Little Chapel of Flowers in Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, John Wood and his wife, Linda, of Alton; a sister, Sylvia Holman of Green River, Wyo.; a special nephew, Brent Holman of Green River, Wyo.; a daughter, Heidi Charity; a son, Scott Wood; grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends; his dog, “Rusty”; and a cat, “Little Guy.”
He was predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Mary.
