MEXICO – Muriel A. Day, 96, of Mexico, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

She was born in Brunswick, on May 2, 1912. One of 15 children, she was the daughter of Harry Asa and Ethel Jane (Douglas) Alexander. She received her education in Brunswick.

She was married in 1935 to Hoyt Day and then relocated to Rumford and was employed by the Mart in Rumford.

She loved to knit, especially baby sets. She also loved to sew and cook. Even at 95 years old, you could still find her out dancing on Friday nights and playing Beano. She was a 55-year member of the Rumford Falls Aerie 1248, F.O.E. Auxiliary, a charter member of the Dixfield and Rumford Seniors. She was a member of the Rumford Baptist Church, where she was a past Sunday school teacher.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Susan Gaudet and her husband, Norman, of Mexico; two sons, E. Fritz Day and wife, Joanie, of Hermon and Clayton H. Day and wife, Barbara, of Bath; a sister, Harriet Perry and husband, Clifford, of Windham; five grandchildren, Mark Gaudet and companion, Rhonda Gallant, of Mexico, Steven Day and wife, Dianne, of Gardiner, Robert Gaudet and wife, Karin, of Mexico, Deborah Milligan and husband, Mark, of Rumford and Mary Thurston and husband, David Jr of Mexico; 12 great grandchildren, Ashley, Chelsea, and Dylan Gaudet, Jennifer, Beth, and Allyson Day, Tamarah and Robert Lyle Gaudet, Andrew, Brittany and Travis Milligan, and Matthew Thurston.

She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Hoyt E. Day; her grandson, Gary A. Day; and a great-granddaughter, Andrea Lynn Milligan.
