WEST PARIS – Frances Isabelle (Ellingwood) Haney of Greenwood Road, West Paris, died in her own home surrounded by her family on Nov. 5.
She was born in West Paris, on March 3, 1928, to Irwin W. and Lila Gertrude (Proctor) Ellingwood. She grew up in West Paris, where she played basketball and graduated from high school.
She was a registered nurse, specializing in psychiatric nursing and began her nursing career after studying at the Rumford Hospital. She was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, honorably discharged as a first lieutenant.
She always enjoyed a good game of cribbage.
On June 12, 1955, she married John Haney of Pittsburgh. With her husband and young family, she has traveled and worked extensively throughout the country.
She is survived by three sons, Michael Patrick and wife, Susan, of Clarksville, Tenn., John Fances and wife, Brenda Lynn Gould, of West Paris and James Irwin and wife, Kimba Lee, of West Paris; one daughter, Patricia Michele Haney; five grandchildren, Leah Marie Haney and friend, Will Dennison, of Harrison, David Nelson Haney of Clarksville, Tenn., Deborah Lynn Hodgkin and husband, Ben, of New Gloucester, KernPatrick Haney and friend, Katie Warner, of Portland and Tabitha Ann Haney of West Paris; two great-grandchildren, Tegan and Elise Hodgkin; brother, David Ellingwood and wife, Gwen, of Zephyrhills, Fla.; many nieces, nephews and cousins; several aunts who were like sisters to her; and a very dear friend, Dottie Farrar.
She was predeceased by her husband; parents; older sister, Marion Dexter; grandson, John James Haney; and infant grandson, Joseph Michael Haney.
