LEWISTON – Leopoldine A. M. Chenard, 90, formerly of 280 Main St., Auburn, died Thursday, Oct. 16, at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston.
Born in Weedon, PQ, Canada, on July 5, 1918, she was the daughter of Joseph and Marie Anne Bouchard. Her family moved to Berlin, N.H., when she was a young girl, and she was educated in Berlin schools.
She moved to the local area as a young woman, and in August 1947, married Rosaire T. Chenard, who passed away on July 4, 1967.
A member of Sacred Heart Parish, she enjoyed knitting, crochet, tending her flowers, apple and strawberry picking with her family, and loved cooking big holiday meals for her extended family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Robert and wife Elaine of Durham; two daughters, Muriel Merchant and fiancé Normand Gagne of Sabattus, and Jeanne and husband Richard Bouchard of Poland; a sister, Laurenda Cyr of Norwalk, Conn.; eight grandchildren, James and Karlenne Merchant, Richard Bouchard, Brian and Tyler Chenard, Tammy Morris, and Stephen and Christine Webber; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Irene Webber; a sister, Nanette Amero; and a grandson, Derrick Morris.
