LEWISTON – Robert Guy Washburn, 74, of Allen Pond Road, Greene, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion.

He was born in Oceanside, L.I., N.Y., Oct. 14, 1933, the son of the late Adelbert and Esther Pederson Washburn. Guy graduated from Oceanside High School in 1951, and attained his bachelor of arts and master’s degrees at Adelphi University.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954 in French Morocco and Iceland. He was employed in education in New York and Maine as a teacher and school administrator and prior to his retirement was employed for 14 years as an estimator and project manager for Hahnel Bros. in Lewiston.

He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Lewiston, Ancient Brothers Masonic Lodge in Auburn, past president of the Maine Chapter of the American Society of Professional Estimators, Androscoggin Fish and Game Association and was a certified hunter’s safety instructor. He was an avid cook, dog lover, car enthusiast and outdoorsman.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Jackson-Washburn of Greene; two sons, David Kristian Washburn of Portland and Robert Guy Washburn II and his companion, Laura Reiner, of Stow, Mass.; a brother, Adelbert Washburn and his companion, May Lambert, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a half brother, Gordon Baker and his wife, Janet, of North Merrick, L.I., N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Marie Welsh and her husband, Richard, of Medfield, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Gloria Protin on July 7.
