POLAND – Josephine Elizabeth Waig, 89, died Sept. 21, at her home on Tiger Hill Road.

She was born in Presque Isle, Aug. 25, 1919, a daughter of George and Amelia (Flannery) Taylor.

She was a loving mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed knitting, crocheting and her faithful cocker spaniel, Kalette. She will be deeply missed by all.

She married the late Howard Waig on Dec. 3, 1938, and lived in Falmouth from 1943 to 2002. He died on April 3, 1965.

She was a mother and homemaker most of her life.

She was formerly employed at Goodwill Industries in Portland and Kmart in Falmouth.

Survivors include three sons, Kenny Waig of Windham, Gerry Waig of College Station, Texas, and Dana Waig of Poland; 12 grandchildren, Tammy Haskell of Windham, Debbie Stevens of Washington, Carol Waig of Windham, Jason Waig of Casco, Donna Morse of Durham, Serena Johnson of Beijing, China, Jessie Rutherford of College Station, Texas, James Waig and Leah Waig of College Station, Texas, Nathan Waig of Nantucket, Mass., Tony Hill of Denver, Colo., and Jodie Waig of Norwich, Conn.; 22 great-grandchildren; several nieces; and a nephew.
