LEWISTON – Richard N. Brushwein, 84, of Auburn, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Central Maine Medical Center, after a brief illness.

He was born in Lewiston, on Sept. 9, 1924, the son of Paul and Alexina (Berube) Brushwein.

He graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1942.

After serving in the Army, he worked at the U.S. Post Office until his retirement in 1979.

He was a member of the First Auburn Senior Citizens, the American Legion Post 22 and the Railway Mail Clerks Association.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Gerry; his son, Jeffrey and his wife, Jolene Walker; his daughter, Rae Brushwein and her husband, Doug Rodgers; his stepdaughter, Patty LaFontaine and her husband, Dale; his stepdaughter, Anne Brushwein; his stepson, Kurt Brushwein and his wife, Darlene; his stepson, John Brushwein and his wife, Amy; six grandchildren, Jessica, Lauren, Kyle, Grace, Leah and Jake; two great-grandchildren, Luke and Lilah; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother and father; three brothers, Fred, Phil and Eddie; and his sisters Pauline Bingelis and Lucille Rybeck.
