LEWISTON – Jeannette M. Veilleux, 85, of 550 College Road, Lewiston, died Friday, Aug. 29, at the Montello Manor in Lewiston.
Born in Lewiston on Sept. 4, 1922, she was the daughter of Royale and Juliette Vigue Anderson. Educated locally, she was a 1941 graduate of Edward Little High School.
On July 29, 1943, she married Roger R. Veilleux, and together they owned and operated Raymond’s Lunch in Auburn. She was also employed by Mechanic Savings Bank and PJ’s Clothing Store for many years. Mr. Veilleux passed away in March 1999.
A member of Holy Cross Parish, she was also a past president of the Kiwaniennes, and was a member of United Commercial Travelers.
She enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing with her husband, and loved to do crafts, especially knitting and crochet. Her favorite activity was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was especially proud of her new great-granddaughter.
Survivors include two daughters, Valerie and husband James Ferrante of Auburn, and Linda and husband Robert Leduc of Lewiston; a brother, Raymond Anderson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four grandchildren, Tina and husband Thomas Kelly, Janet and husband James Giguere, Diana and husband Robert Harris, and Christine and husband Houssam Georges; and seven great-grandchildren, Amber Leduc, Jared Leduc, Olivia Kelly, Olivia Harris, Allison Kelly, Kenneth Harris and Maya Georges.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by uncles Ray Vigue and Carl Capillo.
