AUBURN – Margrit Doris Staton, 68, of Lewiston, died peacefully Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Androscoggin Hospice House after a short illness with her family by her side.
She was born in Barleben, Germany, Aug. 9, 1940, to Willy Erich Bohm and Elli Bohm. She immigrated to the United States in 1964. She then worked at Health-Tex as a seamstress.
She married Frank J. Staton in 1967, and they moved to New Gloucester. She then worked at home for Custom Shop making draperies for many years. She then opened her own business Staton Apparels in 1976, where she made hunting vests, Tyrolean jackets, capes and many other things. She also worked for L.L. Bean as a seamstress in 1995, and retired in 2005.
She enjoyed gardening and cooking. She had beautiful flower gardens, where she spent most of her time after her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and special dogs. She was rich in her heritage and passed it onto her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Andreas Staton and his wife, Daniela, of Lewiston, Kristina Bear and her husband, Doug, of Auburn and Frank “Sonny” Staton Jr.; Sonny’s special dogs, Junior and Moto; Tammy Dunphy and her husband, Bryce, of North Anson and Maggie Viekman and her husband, Peter, of Anson; her grandchildren, Trevor and Dylan Staton, Kayla Bear, Hollye Dunphy and Trevor Wilson; two great-grandchildren, Cristie and Pete Vicneire; relatives in Germany include, Anne Viedge, Hans Oelgardt and Horst Oelgardt; and many friends.
