RUMFORD – James L. Pettegrow, 58, of Prospect Avenue in Rumford, died July 29, at Rumford Hospital after a short illness.
He was born in Rumford on Dec. 1, 1949, the son of the late George E. Pettegrow and Louise Woods Pettegrow Paquette.
He attended schools in Rumford, and later went on to work at various shoe shops and finally at the University of Maine at Orono. He loved watching TV and dancing.
Survivors include his children, Vicki Laurinaitis and husband, Ray, of Mexico, Anna Pettegrow of Madison, Samantha Porter and husband, Randy, of Mexico and Jason Pettegrow and wife, Brittany, of Maryland; sisters, Barbara Richardson and husband, Wendall of Rumford and Linda Wakefield and companion, Bonnie, of Rumford; brothers, Gene Pettegrow and wife, Jackie, of Mexico and Dale Pettegrow and companion, Janice, of Rumford; four grandchildren, Alysha Laurinaitis, William Laurinaitis, Brittany Porter and Kourtney Porter; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; grandparents; several aunts and uncles; a nephew, Dale E. Pettegrow Jr.; and a great-nephew, Christopher L. Deal.
