LEWISTON – Jane E. Fortier 77, of Hersey Hill Road, Minot, died Saturday, June 7, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. She was born in Lewiston on July 23, 1930, the daughter to the late Anna (Freve) Malia. She attended Ave Maria Academy in Sabattus and graduated from St. Dom’s in Lewiston. After high school, she graduated from Pelletier School of Beauty.
She married the love of her life, Renaud Fortier, on Dec. 29, 1951. He predeceased her on Aug. 4, 2006. During her early years of employment she was a hairdresser and worked for Leighton Heel. She spent the remainder of her life taking care of her children and grandchildren. Jane was a member of St. Philips Church for many years. She enjoyed her flowers, gardening, bird watching, and family trips to the ocean.
She leaves six sons: Michael Fortier and his wife, Susan, of Lewiston, Ronald Fortier and his wife, Kimberly, of Pennsylvania, Robert Fortier of Lewiston, Richard Fortier of Lewiston, Donald Fortier of Auburn and Raymond Fortier of Buckfield; a daughter, Susan Fortier, of Minot; nine grandchildren, Deneka, Tiffany, Serena, Danielle, Derek, Nichole, Justin, Jessica and Amanda; and her kitty, Shamu.
The family would like to send a very special thanks to the entire staff on C-2 at St. Mary’s for the exceptional care they gave to Jane and the family.
