Lewiston – Margaret Rose Stevens Bailey, 92, a lifetime resident of Turner, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, June 1, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston following a brief illness.

She was born May 7, 1916, in Turner, the daughter of Leslie and Blanche (Rose) Stevens. She graduated from Leavitt Institute in 1935. Over the years Margaret was active in 4-H, Turner Grange, Pamona Grange, Turner Center Universalist Church, the Farm Bureau and the Ladies Circle. She was married to Alexander Bailey on May 19, 1944, in Lewiston. Margaret was a homemaker and oversaw the family farm. She enjoyed knitting, quilting, gardening, traveling, researching the family genealogy and Turner history, as well. One of her greatest enjoyments was spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed the companionship of her second family at Turner Square Apartments.

She is survived by her children, Roland Bailey and his wife, Rowena, of Atlanta, Ga., Chester Bailey and his wife, Jeanne, of Bristow, Va., Everett Bailey and his wife, Joan, of Belmont, N.H., Robert Bailey and wife, Sheila, of Bar Harbor and Norine Bailey Paradie and her husband, Roger, of Turner; her stepchildren, Evelyn Damon of Providence, R.I., and Louise Guilford of Rumford; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Margret Stevens of Turner.

She was predeceased by her husband Alexander; three brothers, Norris, Irving, Harlan and; one sister, Deborah.
