CANTON – Priscilla E. Newton of North Turner, died on May 24, at the Victorian Villa, with her loving children at her side.
She was born in Leeds, Sept. 14, 1927, the daughter of Stillman and Edna (Fisher) Bryant.
She attended Turner schools and graduated from Leavitt Institute in 1945.
She had a thirst for knowledge which she pursued for most of her life. She married John Albert Newton on Aug. 12, 1948.
She enjoyed helping him in Red’s Mini Mart along with other entrepreneurial ventures such as the antique business, raising Boxer puppies and Persian cats. She could often be found in her greenhouse raising many different varieties of plants.
She was a member of Eastern Star, had been a Girl Scout leader and a seamstress. She always loved painting and was a member of the Western Maine Art Group. She and John had always enjoyed traveling to Laconia Bike Week, or to the ocean. Her children will always remember her fantastic molasses cookies.
She is survived by her brother, Elton Bryant of Zephyrhills, Fla.; brother at heart, Nathan Strout of West Gardiner and his wife, Jan; daughter, Marsha Whittemore and her husband, Dana, of Dixfield; son, Michael Newton and his wife, Deirdre, of Buckfield; daughter, Wanda Turcotte and her husband, Larry, of Peru; and daughter, Joy Conant of Buckfield; 18 grandchildren, Dana Jr., Beau, Jodi, John-Mike, Tom, Nick, Joshua, Cassie, Crystal, Jasper, Sarah, Andrew, Hannah, Luke, David, Lydie, Ryan and April; along with 13 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, John; and her daughter, Faye.
