RUMFORD – Doris Hickey, beloved mother of Mary Hickey, devoted grandmother of Jacob Hickey, loving aunt of Brenda Adams and dear friend of Peggy Russell, passed on Sunday, May 25, peacefully at her home in Rumford, supported by those who loved her.

She was born Sept. 30, 1919.

She lived and laughed well, enjoying poetry, reading and gardening. She was educated in local schools and through the University of Maine system. She found social work as a calling, and pleasure in her work of helping others. Her spirit lived on joyfully in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert Hickey; and an infant son, G.M. Hickey II.
