PORTLAND – Veronica M. Morrison, 96, passed away on Sunday, May 25, at St. Joseph’s Manor.
She was born in Mexico, on Sept. 27, 1911, a daughter of Hugh and Flora (Jenkins) McCafferty, attended local schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School in 1927.
In 1937, she married Thomas Leo Morrison in Rumford. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Portland. Veronica was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church where she was a longtime member of the choir.
She was an active supporter of the Cheverus Mother’s Club.
She is survived by her son, the Rev. James J. Morrison of the Auburn Catholic Community, who is currently living at the Sacred Heart Rectory in Auburn.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Leo Morrison, in 1995; two sisters, Florence Adams and Mary Dunlay; and three brothers, William Theodore, Hugh Henry and Robert McCafferty.
The Rev. Morrison would like to express a special thank-you to the staff of St. Joseph’s Manor for the many years of loving and compassionate care given to Veronica.
