Lewiston – Eleanor Andrews Abbott, 90, formerly of Mechanic Falls, died Friday, May 23, at Central Maine Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born in Oxford, Oct. 25, 1917, a daughter of Henry Asa and Lula G. Stone Andrews.
She lived on the family farm in Oxford and graduated from Oxford High School in 1933.
She graduated from Maine School of Commerce in 1936. She started her long career at the Libbey Mill in Lewiston, working in the accounting department.
On May 13, 1967, she married Donald H. Abbott and they lived on the family farm in Mechanic Falls until 2006, when they moved to The Meadows, in Greene.
Eleanor was a member of the Ladies Auxilary of the Floyd-Harlow VFW Post 9787 in South Paris, and was actively singing in the choir at the First Congregational Church in Mechanic Falls for 60 years.
She is survived by her loving husband Donald; nieces, Norrine Abbott of Lower Waterford, Vt., Eleanor Lasky of Roanoke, Va., and Sidney Kapinos of Centerville,Va.; four great-nieces; and two grand-nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Wallace H. Andrews; and a sister, Genevieve Abbott.
