VERO BEACH, Fla. – Vincent M. Chiarantona, 73, passed away on May 13, at home with his family.
He was born in Mineola, N.Y., May 3, 1935. He resided in New York and worked there until 1987 as administrator for the Health and Hospital Corporation of New York.
At that time, he moved to Auburn, where he worked for the Androscoggin County Sheriff Department and for Brinks Armored Car, until he retired to Vero Beach, Fla., in 2005.
He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed cheering on the Auburn Suburban Little League teams. He was also an active member of the Maine Harness Racing Association.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Josephine of Florida; his sister, Angela Johnson of Sanford, N.C.; a brother, Richard Chiarantona of Miami, Fla.; his sons, Vincent Douvros of Woodstock, Ga., and Richard and Michael Chiarantona of Sebastian, Fla.; daughter, Jeanne Bonelli of Kings Park, N.Y.; grandchildren, Vanessa Kessinger and Stephanie Montgomery of Georgia, Nicole, Richard, Lauren, Lindsay, Vincent, Kelly and Mike Chiarantona, all of Florida, and Toni and Thomas Bonelli of Kings Park, N.Y.; a great-grandson, Vincent Montgomery of Georgia; many nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Mona of Lewiston.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his beloved brother, Paul F. Chiarantona on March 22.
