Topsham – Harriet E. Saindon, 77, of 11 Saindon Place, Topsham, died on Friday, May 16, at Amenity Manor, where she resided for the past 12 months.
She was born in Mexico, Dec. 27, 1930, to the late Roy P. and Ethel M. Lee Mason.
She attended Turner schools and graduated from Leavitt Institute in the class of 1948.
The family moved to Brunswick in 1948, and she was employed at the former Livernois Market and for seven years at the former Morton’s Newsstand in Brunswick.
In 1960, she married Paul Saindon and they made their home in Topsham.
They just recently celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary in March of this year.
She was a member of The Bowdoinham Nazarene Church which she enjoyed attending. A homemaker, she enjoyed cooking, reading, her flower garden and was an animal lover.
Harriet was an avid Elvis fan and also enjoyed spending time at the family cottage at Pleasant Pond in Litchfield.
She loved her family and her beloved dog Monet.
She will be remembered for her wonderful coconut cream pies she baked and the distinguished and elegant manner in which she dressed for church or an outing.
Harriet is survived by her husband, Paul Saindon, of Topsham; her daughters, Lisa M. Saindon and her boyfriend, John E. Durfee, of Bridgton, Debbie Leighton of South Portland; her stepsons, Ernest Saindon and his wife, Melanie, of Bath, Ronald Saindon and his wife, Karen, of Lisbon Falls; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Starbird of Auburn; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
