LEWISTON – Oliver (Gus) Murray, 85, of South Paris, passed away Wednesday, May 7, at Central Maine Medical Center with his loving family at his side.
Gus was born in Turner, Dec. 1, 1922, son of Harold R. Murray and Ella Kilgore Murray. He was a 1941 graduate of Leavitt Institute. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1946.
He was the second generation owner of Murray Oil Co. in Turner. He was a member of the Turner Nezinscott Masonic Lodge since 1945, and joined the Kora Temple in 1951.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Bonney Murray of South Paris; his son, Randy and his wife, Mary, of Turner; two daughters, Bonney and Colleen of Florida; grandsons, Jonathan and wife, Sarah, and Jared and wife, Krista, all of Turner; a granddaughter, Jennifer Dinovelli of California; great-grandson, Aidan Murray of Turner; his sister, Jane Longway of Turner; nephew, Dana Longway and Tina of Turner; his brother-in-law and wife, Weston and Elaine Bonney of Portland; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Matthews of Boscawen, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.
