HOULTON – Louise T. Berry, 82, of Island Falls passed away on May 1, at Houlton Regional Hospital.
She was born June 7, 1925, in Livermore at the family homestead, the first born of the fifth generation. She was the daughter of Leslie E. and Thelma (Coolidge) Boothby.
She graduated from the Leavitt Institute in 1942, and also from the Maine School of Commerce in Auburn. She married N. Robert Berry on Sunday, Oct. 17, 1943. They moved to Island Falls in 1969, where they established Berry & Webb Milk Transport with Jack and Norma Webb.
She was a member and past president of King Mitchell VFW Auxiliary Post 7529, a member of the Whittier Congregational Church, where she was treasurer for many years. She attended Women’s Fellowship and was a member of the Katahdin Club. She was a member of the SACS school board and served on the board of the Katahdin Public Library for many years.
She is survived by five children, Roberta Brooks, Steven Berry and wife, Donna, George Berry and friend, Eleanor Grant, Cora Batchelder and husband, Floyd, and Carla Conrad and husband, Lewis, all of Island Falls; her sister, Edith Damon of Turner; brother, Robert Boothby and wife, Betty, of Wayne; sister-in-law, Norma Boothby of Livermore; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, N. Robert Berry; a daughter, Ramona Berry; a son, Norman L. Berry; a brother, Leslie Boothby; a grandson, Clarence Berry; great-grandson, Kaleb Higgins; and son-in-law, Raymond Brooks Sr.
