LEWISTON – Ruth A. Caron, 83, of 39 Jefferson St., Lewiston, died early Thursday, April 3, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, after a short illness.
She was born in Mechanic Falls on June 5, 1924, the daughter of Ralph and Gladys (Coffin) Holt and had been a resident of this community all of her life.
She was educated in local schools and was a graduate of Mechanic Falls High School in 1943. She married Ludger Caron on March 9, 1945, and he died on Oct. 9, 1994.
She was employed as a spinner in the local textile industry for many years, until her retirement. She was such a kind and gentle person. Her biggest pleasure in her life was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Thibodeau and her husband, Justin H., of Turner; three sons, Louis Caron and his wife, Joyce, of Lewiston, Ralph Caron and his wife, Patricia, of Sabattus and Joseph Caron and his wife, Annette, of Durham; three sisters, Vera Morse of Lisbon Falls, Mary Ainaire of Lewiston and Roberta Green of Norway; six grandchildren, Scott Caron and his wife, Laura, of Taunton, Mass., April Bolduc and her husband, William, of Lewiston, Dawn Gilbert and her husband, Greg, of Turner and Justin L. Thibodeau and his fiancée, Crystal Couture, of Lewiston, Matthew and Miranda Caron of Durham; six great-grandchildren, and one on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Fred Holt.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, Central Maine Medical Center and d’Youville Pavilion for the care they have given to Ruth during these last few months of her life.
