Boston, MA – Helen Isaacson, 89, passed away on Saturday, March 29 at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. For the last two years she had lived in Brighton, Massachusetts near three of her four children.

She was born on August 8, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York, a daughter of George and Corinne Shonberg and attended New York University. In 1941 she married Irving B. Isaacson and subsequently returned with him to his hometown of Auburn, Maine, where they raised four children. She was a substitute teacher in the Auburn school system and owned an antique business. After her husband’s death in 1979, she took up painting and continued to be active in the Lewiston-Auburn community and at Beth Abraham Synagogue.

She is survived by a daughter, Molly-Jane Rubinger of Newton, Massachusetts; three sons, George of Brunswick, Maine, David of Boston, Massachusetts, and Larry of Roslindale, Massachusetts; and five grandchildren, Joshua and Ben Rubinger and Emily, Abigail, and Nathan Isaacson.
