LEWISTON – Liane Charest Sarrasin, 98, of 277 Russell St., Lewiston, died peacefully on Thursday, March 27, at d’Youville Pavilion.

She was born in Lewiston on Feb. 28, 1910, the daughter of Thomas and Amanda (Charest) Charest and had been a resident of this community all of her life. She was employed as a fancy stitcher in the local shoe industry then became a homemaker which she really much enjoyed.

She was a member of the Ladies of St. Ann Sodality, a parishioner of Holy Family Church and she also volunteered at Holy Family School cafeteria. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Rosaire Sarrasin, whom she married on May 24, 1941 in Lewiston; one son, Gerard Sarrasin of Lewiston; two daughters, Doris Doucet and her husband, Lucien, of Melbourne, Fla., and Claire Vallee and her husband, Robert, of Lewiston; two grandchildren, Cynthia Vallee Smith and her husband, Thomas, of Auburn and Steven Vallee and his wife, Lisa, of West Springfield, Mass.; three great-grandchildren, Tyler and Stella Smith of Auburn and Alexander Vallee of West Springfield, Mass.; four brothers, Gerard Charest and his wife, Dorothy, Marcel Charest and his wife, Carmen, Rosaire Charest and his wife, Claudette, and Fernand Charest and his wife, Jacqueline, all of Lewiston; three sisters, Laurette Poulin of Lewiston, Yvette Elliot and her husband, Robert, of Litchfield and Rita LePage of Vero Beach, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Fernande Charest of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by five brothers, Leo, Lucien, John, Adrien and Ernest Charest; and four sisters, Jeanne Fillion, Louisanne Bussiere, Marie Laure Roux and Lucienne Charest.
