FARMINGTON – Arlene K. Witham, 85, of Farmington died Tuesday, March 25, at Edgewood Manor Rehab & Living Center, where she had been a resident for the past three years, after a long illness.

She was born Sept. 20, 1921, in Phillips, a daughter of Edward and Helen (Hunter) Knight. She married Dana Witham in Strong, Sept. 21, 1940. He died Feb. 2, 1991.

She was employed at Diamond Match in Phillips for 10 years before being employed at Forster Mfg. Co. in Strong for 36 years retiring in 1987.

She was a member and past noble grand of Hope Rebecca Lodge 89 and a member of Merrill Lodge 84 of Farmington, and also was a member of the Red Schoolhouse Extension. She attended Fairbanks Union Church. She was also a volunteer and worked for the Franklin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She made her home in the Farmington area for many years. She enjoyed snowmobiling, camping and spent several winters in Florida, with her companion, Ernest Smith.

She is survived by her son, Lawrence Knight of Phillips; her sister, Ruth Brewster of Florida; three cousins, Carol Hailey of Dallas Plantation, Carolyn Raymond of Rangeley and Patricia Brewster of Florida.
