PENSACOLA, Fla. – Colin Joshua Richard, 11, was granted his angel wings on Thursday, March 20, after a lifelong illness. His final days were spent surrounded by his loving and devoted family.
Although Colin’s illness made him appear frail, his perseverance and courage led us to understand that each day is a blessing. He enjoyed music, being around other children, especially his brothers, laughter, the sound of the ocean and visiting his family and friends in Maine.
With Colin’s passing we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. He will be missed dearly, but will remain forever in our hearts. We are so thankful that his brothers, Adam, Andrew and Aden met Colin so they can hold dear the memory of Colin’s gentle spirit. He touched the lives of so many without ever saying a word. It has been a privilege to be his parents.
Colin leaves behind wonderful caregivers; Connie and Lisa who enhanced his quality of life; the Escambia Westgate Center where he attended school, and Dr. Matt Hand and Dr. Iris Silverstein, who hold a special place in our hearts for their dedication and support.
Colin is survived by his parents, Chuck and Barbie Richard of Pensacola, Fla.; brothers, Adam, Andrew and Aden Richard; paternal grandparents, Brenda Endicott and Clyde Young of Livermore and Paul and Pat Richard of Augusta; maternal grandparents, Gene and Sheila Weed of Livermore; aunt, Vicky and uncle, Tim Fuller of Phoenix, Ariz., aunt, Tina and uncle, Chris Whalen of Freeport; and cousins, Anna, Lilly and Julia Whalen.
