South Paris – Carroll W. Andrews, 82, passed away Friday, March 7, at the Maine Veteran Home in South Paris.
He was born in South Paris, May 26, 1925, the son of Alton and Marion Ames Andrews. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943-1946. His service took him to the Philippines and Japan. His return home brought him through the Panama Canal, a site he spoke of many times. On July 22, 1949 he married Theresa Beaudoin at St. Catherine’s Rectory Chapel.
He graduated from Paris High School and the Maine Vocational School. He enjoyed his career as an electrician and was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 567 for over 50 years.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his farm in West Sumner. After his retirement in 1988, he enjoyed walking, attending his grandsons’ ballgames and the monthly meetings of the Retired Electrical Workers at Pat’s Pizza in Auburn. He was a member of the American Legion Post 178 in Waterville.
Besides his wife of 58 years, Theresa Andrews, he is survived by daughters Joline Andrews and Janice Andrews all of South Paris; his two special grandsons, Alan and Kelly Lovejoy of Greene and Joel and Amanda Martino of Cornelius, N.C. Other survivors include his brother-in-law Roland and Joyce Beaudoin; his sister-in-law June Andrews; his cousin Vernal and Helen Andrews; as well as lifelong friends John Tucker and Barbara LaPrino.
He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Katherine Cyr; a brother, Gardner; and his stepfather, Henry Stone.
