Wolfeboro, N.H. – Ralph V. Daley, 88, of Durrell Road, Tamworth, N.H., died on March 3, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation in Wolfeboro, after a brief battle with cancer.

Born Sept. 27, 1919, in Manchester, N.H., the son of the late Thomas F. and Marie Eva (Proulx) Daley, he grew up in Lowell, Mass., but lived most of his life in Pelham, N.H., until moving to Tamworth in 2000.

He served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1945, being honorably discharged as a ship-fitter second class. After his discharge, he joined the Iron Workers Union Local 7, in South Boston, working as an iron worker journeyman. He was past secretary/treasurer for the union. From 1980 to 2000, he worked for the city of Pelham, N.H., Department of Parks and Cemeteries. He was a life member of the Iron Workers Union Local 7 and the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by a daughter, Wanda, and her husband, Clifton Smith, of Lewiston; a close nephew, Thomas and his wife, Dorothy Daley, of Wonalancet, N.H.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Edith (Hodge) Daley, in 1999; and all of his siblings, Thomas Daley, Anna LaRochelle, Verner Mello, Herbert Daley and James Daley.
