RUMFORD – Eleanor F. Dow, 75, of 302 Hancock St., Rumford, passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, at her home after a long illness.
She was born in Bucksport, April 17, 1932, a daughter of Stanley and Gertrude (Monroe) Tozier. She was schooled in Bucksport, Mexico and several other communities in Maine and was married to Lawrence Dow.
She owned and operated Allen’s Restaurant in Mexico for several years, worked at Diamond Match in Dixfield for a time and later worked for McCrory’s Snack Bar in Florida.
She enjoyed crafting, painting and cooking. She also loved interior decorating, as she decorated some houses in both Maine and Florida. She was a born-again Christian of the Baptist faith.
She leaves her husband, Larry Dow of Rumford; a son, Ric Lavoie and his wife, Dr. Susan Lavoie, and their daughter Stephanie of Eatton, Ga.; a daughter, Cleo Dow of Dixfield; four stepchildren, Kelly Blouin of Dixfield, Brenda Godin of St. Louis, Mo., Steve Dow of Melbourne, Fla., and Holly Dow.
She was predeceased by four brothers, Stanley, David, Glen and Frank; and by a sister, Dorothy.
