LEWISTON – David E. Mawhinney, 77, of Sabattus, died Feb. 17, from complications due to lung disease, with his family by his side.
He was born in Mexico, May 13, 1930, the son of David and Pricilla Mawhinney.
He proudly served in the Korean War. He was a machinist at Boise Cascade paper mill, where he retired in 1988, after 40 years of service. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He loved camping, traveling and enjoyed the company of his many grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Cecilia of Sabattus; his four children, two sons, Michael and his companion, Dinna, and David of Augusta, two daughters, Kim Brian of Reno, Nev., and Jill and Tony Lehr of Silver Springs, Nev.; three stepchildren, Robert and his wife, Kathy, of Mexico, Allison Gurney, Linda and Dean Carter of Auburn; several grandchildren, Jessica, David, Megan, Nathan, Heather, Tom and Sarah; three great-grandchildren, Jarek, Amelia and Lindsey; his brother, Rayfield, of Rumford and his wife, Shirley; and a sister, Geraldine of Portland.
