RUMFORD – Richard A. “Rick” Robinson, 58, of Cross Street, Mexico, died on Sunday, Feb. 17, at the Rumford Hospital after a battle with A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

He was born in Rumford on April 14, 1949, a son of John and Melda (Philbrick) Robinson Sr.

He graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford, class of 1967, and attended the University of Maine at Farmington.

He worked in the purchasing department at Mead Paper Co. in Rumford for over 38 years until 2004. He then attended the University of Maine in Mexico and received his degree in business administration. He also worked at Franklin Memorial Hospital in the purchasing department from June of 2006 to June of 2007.

He was formerly very active as a Boy Scout leader. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fly fishing, hunting and golfing. He also enjoyed photography and reading.

He was married in Rumford on Sept. 11, 1971, to the former Carleen A. McKenna, who survives of Mexico. Other survivors include a daughter, Jaime Bushie and husband, Joel, of Dixfield; a son, Jonathan Robinson of Cambridge, Vt.; a sister, Terry Gurschick and husband, Keith, of Falmouth, Nova Scotia; a brother, John Robinson Jr. of Rumford; several nieces and nephews; and his pet dog, “Sadie.”
