LEWISTON — Barbara McAllister was honored at the Maine Adult Education Association conference for her exceptional work as part of the Lewiston Adult Education team. She received the MAEA Outstanding Support Staff Award.

McAllister has spent the last eight years working on the front lines at Lewiston Adult Education’s Adult Learning Center. While managing numerous and varied operations, from customer service, to technical support, to coordinating special events, McAllister has found new and creative ways to support and celebrate the accomplishments of Lewiston’s adult learners.

In that time, McAllister has also become the go-to expert on Maine’s Adult Education database system. Educators and administrators from adult education programs throughout the state have found McAllister’s knowledge invaluable. Her in-depth research using database information has informed curriculum decisions, grant-writing processes and recruitment efforts.
