AUBURN – Donald W. Thompson, 68, of Avon, died at the Hospice House in Auburn on Saturday, Jan. 26, surrounded by his loving family. His family is proud of the fact that Donald “fought the fight,” and will miss him greatly.
He was born April 12, 1939, the son of William J. and Venis (Haines) Thompson in Eustis. He attended Rangeley High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed four-wheelers, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Searles and her husband, Leland, of Jay and Karin Gaudet and her husband, Robert, of Rumford; two sons, Ty Thompson of Oquossoc and Mike Thompson and his companion, Verna, of Tallahassee, Fla.; four grandchildren, Christina White, Brittany Belisle, Tamarah and Robert Gaudet; two sisters, Phyllis Philbrick of Rangeley and Peggy Backus of Texas; many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Ryan and his wife, Ethna, of Rangeley; and his caring friends, Merle and Geanie Brann of Avon.
He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Richard Thompson.
