WELLS – Denise Marie Woods, 49, of Cheney Woods Road, died on Thursday, Jan. 10, after a brave struggle with cancer.

She was born in Lewiston, on Nov. 14, 1958, a daughter of Raymond Norman and Linda (Knowles) Dutil. She was educated in Lewiston, graduating from Lewiston High School. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Maine, Orono, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She earned her master’s degree in nursing from Boston College. She was on the staff of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton, Mass., for more than 20 years.

On June 16, 1990, she married the love of her life, Steven Woods, in Lewiston and together they enjoyed 17 years of marriage.

In 2004, the Woods family relocated to Wells. She worked at Portsmouth Regional Hospital until she retired due to her illness. She was a member of the American Nurses Association, and the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN).

She loved the outdoors and was an avid runner. She also enjoyed playing golf with her husband.

Survivors include her loving husband, Steven of Wells; her sons, Sean P. and Kevin B. Woods, both of Wells; her twin daughters, Stephanie M. and Amanda M. Woods, both of Wells; her parents, Raymond and Linda Dutil of Augusta; two brothers, Raymond Dutil Jr. of Lewiston and Michael Dutil of Augusta; and two sisters, Amber Antworth of Augusta and Celeste Bridgeford of Peaks Island.
