LEWISTON – Richard R. Roux, 80, of Lewiston, died Dec. 22, at the d’Youville Pavilion, after a long illness.
He was born in Auburn on March 17, 1927, the son of Laurent and Adele Verreault Roux. Educated in local schools, he was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1945.
After his graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and served in World War II and Korea. In 1949, he married the former Geraldine Leclerc. He was employed for many years in the central office of the New England Telephone Co. in Lewiston.
A member of Holy Family parish, he also belonged to the Telephone Pioneers of America, volunteered for the Special Olympics and Lifeline, and in his younger days enjoyed skiing, archery, and scuba diving.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Robert, Lawrence and John; and two sisters, Irene Buteau and Doris Douillette.
