SOUTH PARIS – Kenneth S. Jones, 83, of South Rumford, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, at the Maine Veterans’ Home.
He was born in Rumford, on May 18, 1924, the son of the late Samuel and Marguerite (Russ) Jones. He graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford, Class of 1943. He worked as a paper tester in the lab at Boise Cascade in Rumford for more than 40 years until his retirement in 1987.
He was a member of the Blazing Star Lodge 30 AF & AM, Kora Temple Shrine, 32 degree Scottish and York Rites, Rumford Grange 115, Napoleon Ouellette Post 24 American Legion, Robert Shand Post 1641 VFW, Rumford Falls Aerie 1248 FOE, Boise Cascade Paper Company 25 & 40-year club and Mt. Zircon Chapter 21 OES.
He was married in Rumford, on Nov. 6, 1946, to Marion M. Jones who survives of Rumford.
Other survivors include four daughters, Rita Hutchinson of Rumford, Barbara Blanchard and her husband, George, of Rumford, Laura Riggs and her husband, Charles, of Rumford and Bonnie Young and her husband, Donald, of Dixfield; son, Leon Jones of Bremerton, Wash.; sisters, Helen Malley of Mexico, Marcia Alice Barkey of Findlay, Ohio, and Mrs Nora Babb of Mississippi; brothers, Elmer Norris Jones of Rumford, Herman Jones of Canton, Malcolm Jones of Rumford, Walter Jones of Rumford and Harold “Okie” Jones of Canton; and many grandchildren.
