LEWISTON – Evelyn T. Poulin, 89, of 42 White St., died Tuesday, Dec. 11, at d’Youville Pavilion, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Winslow on April 21, 1918, a daughter of Ovide and Annie (Lacasse) Hubert. She was educated in Waterville schools. On Sept. 18, 1939, she married Lucien J. Poulin.

In 1948, they moved to Lewiston, where they raised their family and spent their life together. He owned and operated Poulin’s Esso in Lewiston, where she helped with the bookkeeping and billing for years.

She was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. She was a homemaker as well and raised two daughters. Together they spent 23 memorable summers at their camp on Taylor Pond in Auburn. She was a tremendous cook for the family. Her children, grandchildren and even her great-grandchildren enjoyed her peanut butter fudge, banana breads and blueberry pies.

Her children’s school activities and later her grandchildren’s sports became an extremely important part of her life. From youth football to St. Dom’s soccer and basketball, she was a vocal fan, attending as many games as she could. She continued this love of sports at home as well, watching football, basketball and hockey. She maintained her home and independent spirit long after her husband’s passing on Oct. 19, 1979. She lived on her own and maintained her house by herself until very recently.

She is survived by her two loving daughters, Ann Anctil and her husband, Ronald, of Brunswick and Claudette Reny of Lewiston; four grandchildren, Faye Paquet and her husband, Dan, of Lewiston, Steve Reny and his wife, Carrie, of Windham, N.H., Greg Reny and his wife, Suki, of Rockford, Ill., and Jennifer Martel and her husband, Michael, of Auburn; seven great-grandchildren, Jordan Paquet and Taylor Paquet, both of Lewiston, Amanda Reny and Sarah Reny, both of Windham, N.H, Kora Martel and Joe Martel, both of Auburn and Devyn Reny of Rockford, Ill.; one sister, Normande Rossignal of Waterville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lucien; and three brothers, Lawrence Hubert, Clarence Hubert and Claude Hubert.

Her family wishes to thank the fine staff of d’Youville Pavilion floor 4-East and Beacon Hospice for their compassionate care.
