SOUTH PARIS – Muriel C. Tarlow, 80, died Monday, Nov. 26, at Market Square Health Care Center after a brief battle with cancer.

She was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., on Dec. 17, 1926, the daughter of John and Elsa Baird Beltaire. She was raised in New York and Connecticut, and attended Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., where she graduated as an English major.

She raised four children in Hingham, Mass., and moved to California in later life, where she resided in Solvang. In 2004, she moved to Maine to be near a daughter. She resided at Schooner Estates in Auburn for two years and the last nine months at Market Square Health Care Center.

She is survived by her four children, Pam Stock of South Paris, Linda Tarlow of Silver Spring, Md., Elliot Tarlow Jr. (Buzz) of Topanga, Calif., and Jeffrey-Baptiste Tarlofsky of Tokyo, Japan; grandchildren, Zachary and Tyler Stock and Cody and Darby Tarlow.

She will be remembered by those who knew her as a sunny, kind person who loved all animals, especially dogs. She left us with the hope that, “Heaven’s the place where all the dogs you’ve ever loved come to greet you.”
