Auburn – Pearl A. Simmons 87, of Auburn, died Sunday, Nov. 25, at The Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice after a long illness.
She was born on May 16, 1920, a daughter to the late Freemen Leroy and Mabelle Allen Snow. Pearl was educated in the South Paris school system and graduated from South Paris High School. On Feb. 14, 1947, she married the love of her life, Richard Simmons. He predeceased her in 1998. She was a member of the United Methodist Church on Park Avenue, a past noble grand at Fidelity Rebekah Lodge, where she was a member for 55 years, Androscoggin Valley past noble Grand Association, Friendly Extension, a 50-year member of the Danville Grange, Martha Circle, First Auburn Senior Citizens, Robin Dow Senior Citizens and Young at Heart. She enjoyed family, friends, flowers, playing cards and her cat collection. She will be missed for her sense of humor, love for family and her story telling of family history.
She leaves a daughter, Brenda Mower and her husband, Thomas, of Auburn; three grandchildren, Thomas Mower IV and his wife, Jennifer, Timothy Mower and Richard Spiro and his fiancé, Gabrielle Copeley; five great-grandchildren, Owen Mower, Elijah Spiro, Serena Mower, Lukas and Ezekiel Spiro; a brother, Allen Snow of South Paris; a sister-in-law, Patricia Snow of South Paris; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Beverly Mae Spiro; three sisters, Bernice Bickford, Helene Hall and Margaret Berryment; and a brother, William Snow.
The family would like to send a special thank-you to the staff at Clover Manor and The Hospice House for the great care they gave to Pearl.
