AUBURN – Anne M. Labranche, 57, of 981 Upper St., Turner, died Friday, Nov. 23, at the Hospice House in Auburn surrounded by family and friends, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Lewiston on March 1, 1950, she was the daughter of Leo and Evelyn (Smith) Elie. Educated locally, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School and Bernard’s School of Beauty. On May 23, 1970, she married Richard A. Labranche to whom she was very happily married for over 37 years. Together they settled in Turner where they resided for over 30 years. She was a devoted mother and wife who enjoyed staying home to raise her two daughters. She was employed by Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. for the past 23 years. Throughout her time there she was active in many charitable organizations including United Way, Greater Androscoggin Humane Society and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. She was also an active volunteer for Catholic Charities of Maine SEARCH program, sending scores of cards to local elderly residents for their birthdays and Christmas. She took great joy in helping others and will always be remembered for her friendship, kindness and selflessness. A member of St. Patrick’s Parish, she was an excellent cook and enjoyed hosting gatherings for her family and friends. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time in her beautiful garden, taking walks along Maine’s beaches and going for scenic drives with her husband.
She had a special fondness for animals, especially dogs, whom she treated like members of her family. Her greatest joy during the last years of her life was the anticipation and arrival of her only grandchild, Matthew.
Survivors include her loving husband, Richard Labranche, of Turner; daughters Rebecca Lebrun of Turner and Kimberle Labranche and longtime companion, Michael Rementer, of Turner; a grandson, Matthew Rementer; three brothers, Mark Elie and his wife, Louise, of Lewiston, Jonathan Elie and his wife, Melissa, of Leeds and Dana Elie and his wife, Jean, of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; and several close friends.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff who cared for Anne during her time at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, The Hospice House in Auburn and The Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Philadelphia.
