BRUNSWICK – Isaia A. “Ikie” Davis, 59, of Sabattus, died Oct. 26, at Midcoast Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer with her family by her side.
She was born in South Paris, Nov. 13, 1947, the daughter of Eino and Margaret Kennedy Pike. She was educated in South Paris schools and graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1965.
On Oct. 2, 1966, she married John A. Davis at the Davis family farm in Sabattus. Together they made their home in Webster, now Sabattus.
She continued her education at Central Maine General Hospital in Lewiston, where she earned her degree as a registered nurse. She practiced for 38 years, having worked at various hospitals and nursing homes which included Central Maine Medical Center, St. Mary’s Hospital, d’Youville Pavilion, Parkview Hospital in Brunswick, and most recently at Marshwood Nursing Home. She also worked in private nursing for many years.
She continued on with her education at University of Maine at Farmington in 1991, and earned her degree in health education. She enjoyed teaching, having taught certified nurse’s aid and medical terminology courses at Lewiston Adult Education for many years.
She was a member of the Pytheon Sisters in Sabattus and also enjoyed bowling, where she was active in her bowling league. She very much enjoyed traveling around the country. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and spending time at the family camp in Abbot. She especially enjoyed taking care of others and loved spending time with her family.
She is survived her husband, John Davis of Sabattus; two sons, John Jr. and his fiancée, Melissa Wright, of Lewiston and Jason and his wife, Tammy, of Sabattus; her four grandchildren, Alexandra, Thomas, Andrew and Abigail Davis; her half brother, Albert Holden South Paris; and a close family friend, Marsha Sheehan of Saco.
She was predeceased by her son, Dennis Davis.
