LEWISTON – Lillian E. Trumble, 95, of Lisbon Falls, died early Thursday, Oct. 25, at Marshwood Center for Health Care & Rehabilitation.

She was born in Oquossoc on Aug. 1, 1912, the daughter of Arlie V. and Maria A. Childs Pillsbury. She attended schools in Hallowell, Conway, N.H., Lisbon, and graduated from Jordan High School in Lewiston in 1930.

After high school, she attended the Maine Eye and Ear Infirmary in Portland graduating in 1934. She worked as a registered nurse for 50 years in hospitals in North Conway, Memorial Hospital in New Hampshire, CMMC in Maine and the Cumberland and Regional Hospital in Brunswick. She also did private duty nursing in and around the area.

She later joined the Army Nursing Corp in January 1945, where she was stationed at Camp Edward in Massachusetts, No. 231 Station Hospital England and the 230th Station Hospital in Heidelburg, Germany. She was honorably discharged in 1946.

In June 1947, she married William Trumble in North Conway and they later moved to Lisbon Falls in 1953. He passed away on Feb. 16, 1996.

She was a proud member of the Lisbon Falls Baptist Church since 1954, serving as a part-time Sunday school teacher, a member of the Board of Deaconesses, and a member of the Ladies Mission Society. She was a retired member of the Rebekah Lodge 86 of Lisbon and also belonged to the Senior Citizens of Lisbon and served for a short time on the Durham extension society. In 2001, she was presented the U.S. American flag by Sen. Susan Collins for her service to our country during World War II as an Army nurse.

Survivors include one half brother, George A. Fuller and his wife, Betty, of Wolfeboro, N.H.; a sister-in-law, Almeda Fuller of St. Petersburg Fla.; her two nieces, Kay Fuller of Durham and Mary Beth and her husband, George Bowling, of Alton Bay, N.H.; her nephew, Peter George Fuller of Eight Mile, Ala.; one great-niece, Kelley and her husband, William Burgess of Waltham, Mass.; two great-nieces, Tennessee and Savannah Bowling; two great-great-nephews, Peter Robinson Fuller and Christopher Burgess; and one great-great-niece, Ashley Burgess.

She was predeceased by her father; a sister Eunice in 1919; her stepfather, Peter Fuller; and a stepbrother, John Fuller.
